Out of Hours Emergency Consults at Henlow Veterinary Hospital
At Henlow Veterinary Hospital we understand that emergencies can happen at any time. That’s why we are very proud that we run our own Out of Hours emergency service for our registered patients only. We have a wonderful dedicated and professional team who provide exceptional care to all our patients when you need it most.
We have a Registered Veterinary Nurse on site 24hrs a day and a Veterinary Surgeon on site or on-call 24hrs a day
If you are not a client with a registered patient then please contact your own vets and follow their guidelines for emergencies. All veterinary practices have to make a provision to treat emergency cases.
We know that an emergency can become very stressful and upsetting, so by having the out of hour’s service for our patients at our practice with our own staff allows us to treat your beloved pets as quickly as possible. Our team has full access to your pet’s clinical records, test results and prescribed medications, ensuring you peace of mind during challenging moments. Your pet’s health and comfort are our top priorities day and night.
After your initial contact with the practice the veterinary nurse will liaise with the Veterinary Surgeon on call and either offer telephone support or advise you that you need to bring your pet in to us. If your pet is hospitalised they will receive 24hr care from a registered veterinary nurse, treatment from the vet. The Vet will stay at their discretion, dependant on the severity of your pet’s illness/condition.
If you are worried, we will always be happy to see your pet
Upon your pet’s arrival the Vet will conduct a consultation, examine your pet and offer an appropriate treatment plan- which may include overnight hospitalisation.
For animals being admitted, the veterinary surgeon will complete a detailed consent form with you and provide an estimate of costs.
Written consent can be difficult to obtain in time of emergencies in a life threatening situation oral consent may be asked for first. Our priority is the welfare of our patient. We will offer first aid and initial stabilisation including pain relief as soon as possible, then obtain written consent later when appropriate if your animal is admitted for tests of hospitalisation.
Please note, we will require an upfront payment of 50% of the estimated costs involved.
Should you have difficulty with transport we can provide pet taxi contact details.
