Why our clients choose Henlow Veterinary Hospital.

Henlow Veterinary Hospital is an independently owned practice serving the pets of Lower Stondon, Henlow, Shefford, Hitchin and the wider areas of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, 24 hours a day.

The whole team at Henlow Vets take great pride in delivering high clinical standards whilst maintaining a welcoming family environment; making sure to tailor our recommendations to each individual patient and treating them as if they were our own.

Being an independent practice means that our team can continue to provide 24-hour care to our patients on our own premises, with a regular team of staff with whom our clients and patients are familiar.

We are able to provide a wide range of clinical services including free registration checks, health plans, nurse clinics and more niche veterinary consultations. We listen to the needs of our clients and their pets to ensure we are offering support at all the vital life stages such as at puppy parties, desensitisation appointments, quality of life discussions and bereavement counselling.

As an independent practice we have full autonomy in the choices of medications and products that we prescribe and supply, in accordance with the prescribing laws that Veterinary Surgeons must abide by. This means we can keep up to date with new emerging treatments, offering variety where it is needed, ordering specialist treatments for individuals, as well as passing on supplier promotions and discounts to clients wherever possible.

We have an experienced team of veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses, many of whom either have or are working towards advanced qualifications such as small animal medicine, small animal surgery, diagnostic imaging, dermatology, ophthalmology, emergency and critical care and exotics. This means we are able to progress cases to a high standard at Henlow Veterinary Hospital, whilst retaining a healthy respect for and relationship with local referral centres when our patients need specialist care.

In the absence of a pet NHS, we appreciate that veterinary fees can seem expensive. At Henlow Vets we have always been transparent about our fees. We give value to the high level of service and care that we provide; and maintain our costs at a level which remains accessible to our clients whilst enabling us to fairly pay our staff and run our practice at its full potential including equipment maintenance, upgrades and staff training.

We welcome and encourage insurance for pets and our client care team are happy to talk through the best types of policy to look for.

Our Henlow Healthy Pets scheme allows pet owners to spread the cost of routine necessary healthcare over the year with monthly payments at a discounted price and is designed specifically in line with the beliefs and recommendations of our own vets.

We have always published a list of our charges for routine consultations and operations on our website and provide estimates for all hospital procedures in advance. We actively encourage discussions around available treatment options and the costs involved to make sure that we continue to work with you to help your pets when they need us most.
