From the vets to the support staff, we have an expert team at Henlow Vets. Ready to help you and your pet with whatever they may need.
Hi I’m Anna, Lead vet and one of the owners of Henlow Vets. I qualified from Girton College, Cambridge in 2001 and since then I have always worked in small animal practice. I am dedicated to helping the next generation of vets, my most recent position before opening Henlow Vets was teaching at the Royal Veterinary College and supporting our younger vets.
As well as teaching I love investigating challenging and complex cases to find the best treatment options for your pets. I gained my RCVS certificate in small Animal Medicine in 2008 and am currently studying for my certificate in Diagnostic Imaging, another passion of mine. I’m therefore normally found in the dark caves of the practice x-ray and ultra sound rooms! I also enjoy emergency work to oversee and take part in our out of hour emergency service.
Outside work I have menagerie a of rescue pets – Ettie the Springerpoo, Wolfie a three-legged Saluki, Max the three-legged cat and 3 chickens Rhona, Scarlett and Nora. We also have 3 ponies which I exercise and my daughters compete on, so in my spare time I am often driving to and from horse events. I love being outdoors so like to spend time walking and hiking with my husband and tending a vegetable patch. I also play the piano, read and play badminton. My very favourite thing is going skiing once a year with my family and friends.
Hello, I am Graeme one of the owners of Henlow Vets. I was born in St Pauls Walden near Hitchin; the son of a veterinary surgeon and school teacher. I love everything about the countryside but most of all the animals. I studied agriculture at university and started work for a multinational animal health company in 1999. I have had a variety of interesting roles over 18 years advising vets, pet owners and farmers in a wide range of medicine and husbandry areas.
My most recent roles before setting up Henlow Vets involved management of a farm animal veterinary practice and a business development role helping vets provide better services to pet owners. The knowledge gained in these positions and my passion to do what I teach lead me to fulfil a life-long dream to open a practice.
I have lived in Shefford for the last 15 years with my wonderful and supportive family Caroline, Jack and Rosie and our dogs Teddy and Lilley. Outside of work when I am not driving to a football event, I love nature and can often be found walking the footpaths of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
Six years ago, I fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening a veterinary practice to care for pets in our local community. I am so proud that we can provide such a high level of care to so many pets. We are constantly striving to improve the practice and 2020 not only saw us all struck by Covid-19 but also the start of an ambitious expansion of our practice facilities. It took 18 months but we have transformed the practice to provide both cat and dog specific treatment and hospitalisation areas and 24hr emergency cover on-site. I really look forward to meeting you and welcoming you and your pets into our practice family!
Hi, I’m Melanie, and I am a Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Henlow Veterinary Centre. I have been with the practice since the very day it opened and it has been fantastic watching it grow over the last 6 years.
I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College and have always worked in the local area in small animal practice. My clinical interests are in feline medicine and ophthalmology, as well as emergency and critical care and toxicology. I also act as mentor to some of our newer colleagues and have completed further training in staff mental health and well-being, something which I feel very passionate about.
Outside of work I spend most of my time with my husband and two young children enjoying our local area. When I have time to myself, I can usually be found doing something crafty such as sewing, knitting or upcycling furniture!
We have a lovely team of staff at HVC and an equally wonderful extended family of clients and patients who have all supported each other so much during the Covid-19 pandemic and since the opening of our out of hours service.
It has been a pleasure to meet so many of you and I look forward to looking after more of your pets in the future.
Hello, I am Katie one of the veterinary surgeons at Henlow. I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, and spent time at another local veterinary hospital before I joined the team at Henlow in 2022. I enjoy all aspects of being a vet in general practice, however I have particular interests in medicine and endocrinology.
I am one of the vets who works out of hours as part of the emergency service here at Henlow. I find this aspect of my job very rewarding, and one of my favourite parts is seeing how grateful owners are when we help their pets feel better.
I have a soft spot for ginger cats, and have my own called Leo who is a rescue.
During downtime you can find me trying out new cooking recipes and spending time in the countryside.
I have already had the pleasure of meeting a lot of wonderful clients and their pets at Henlow, and look forward to meeting more of you in the future.
Hello, my name is Alex and I am one of the veterinary surgeons at Henlow Vets. I graduated from Nottingham Vet School in July 2022 and started working with Henlow Vets in September 2022. I enjoy all aspects of first opinion small animal practice, but my main interests are medicine and cardiology. I am also one of the vets involved in our wonderful OOH service to help care for your pets in emergencies.
When I am not at work, you will find me at the gym, walking my dog in the countryside or spending time with family and friends! I have loved meeting many of you and your pets and look forward to meeting more of you.
Hi, I’m Caitlin, one of the vets here at Henlow Veterinary Centre.

Hi I’m Jaye and I joined HVC team 2021 after graduating from the Royal Veterinary Collage. As a new vet, I am currently enjoying being involved in everything from consulting to surgery, to the OOH service, as well as getting to know all our lovely clients! Outside of work, I keep active swimming on a Master’s swimming team and enjoy playing the alto saxophone to relax!
Hello my name is Ann. I’m one of the veterinary surgeons. I qualified in Belgium in 1990 and have been working in the UK ever since. I joined the Henlow Vets team earlier in 2022. My preferred habitat is the theatre room. In the past my spare time was spent studying, however these days you’re more likely to see me swimming, biking or running, I do enjoy training and competing in long-distance triathlons and yes… I am an Ironman. I do own a furbaby called Miss Ellie. She was a broken little rescue kitten that required several surgeries to get her walking again. She now climbs two story houses with ease and loves to bring in the odd trophy mouse in the bedroom. Hopefully I can help your pets in a similar way, whether through surgery or medical procedures.

Hi, I’m Hannah one of the nurses at Henlow Vets. I qualified in 2010 and worked at Roebuck Veterinary Hospital in Stevenage and the QMHA at the Royal Vet College referral hospital in Surgery Ward for 6 years. After seeing many weird and wonderful things I decided I missed the variety of general practice so joined the Henlow Vet family in August 2020. I find it really rewarding teaching student nurses so completed my Clinical Coach training and am currently supporting our Student Megan complete her second year of Nursing.
When I’m not with my Henlow Vets family I’m busy looking after my daughter, son and my gorgeous cat D’jango (and my husband Steve of course!) I enjoy going for family walks followed by my husband’s yummy roast dinner, coffee in Hitchin and catching up with friends.
I am also one of the clinical supervisors who mentors one of our student nurses during their training.
In my spare time, I take care of my rescued pets 3 cats and a soppy staffy.

Of course, I love all animals but have a love for cats, I completed a certificate in advanced feline nursing and utilise the skills and knowledge to ensure their individual needs are met during their stay.

Hello, I’m Jane, one of the cat loving, veterinary care assistants here at Henlow Vets. I come far from a tiny village in Ukraine where I got to live accompanied with many farm and pet animals. I’ve always had a soft spot for them and always knew that helping them in any way I can was going to be my passion. Since finishing my Animal Management course at Shuttleworth College, I began working here to get an in-depth insight on what the veterinary industry is like, before continuing with my studies to become a veterinary nurse. When I’m not burrowing my head into medicine books I like to spend my free time reading romance or horror novels, journaling, swimming or going out with my friends.

I, like most people in the industry, have my own little herd at home that keep me busy consisting of 4 dogs, Gus, Ernie, Ethel, Bear and 3 cats, Sushi, Morrison and Mavis. Despite his 50kg size, Gus my leonberger is kept in line by my 7kg pug Ethel (something to do with being a bossy ginger female)! Ernie my oldest keeps me on my toes, there is something very special about geriatric dogs, he makes me smile every day and I’m very privileged to be his mum. All 3 of my cats were failed fosters after I hand reared them (one of the perils of working in a vets). When I have the time, I also like to bake. I look forward to being able to meet and help you and your pets.
