As the weather warms up, itβs important to remember that rabbits are at increased risk of flystrike during the warmer months. βοΈ
Flystrike is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition caused when flies lay eggs on soiled or damp fur. These eggs can hatch rapidly into maggots, so the condition can progress very quickly β making prevention essential. πͺ°
We strongly recommend regular preventative treatment throughout the spring and summer months. This is typically applied every 8β10 weeks during warmer weather. It is also important to keep your rabbit clean and dry, and carry out daily health checks to spot any early signs of concern.
Our nurses are happy to apply this treatment for you, and as part of our Henlow Healthy Pets plan, this preventative treatment and application is included. π
If you have any concerns about your rabbit, or would like advice on flystrike prevention, please donβt hesitate to contact us π€
